The Georgia & Nolan Payton Archive of Sacred Musicconsists of music, books, periodicals, documents, audio & visual materials, and oral histories. The primary goal of the Archive is to facilitate research and documentation of collections of African Diaspora sacred music (church music and religious concert music) created and/or performed by the multicultural population of Southern California.
Albert J. McNeil Collection
This acquisition consists of photos, programs, documents, posters, published music documents, articles, videotape, audio tape and items donated by Dr. Albert McNeil from his personal files. The articles are related to his work from his church appointments, university appointments, The Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers, etc. and includes personal family pictures (Dr. McNeil as in infant) and records. The video will be transferred to DVD, documents digitized and separated. All information will be included in a database created specifically for this purpose and ultimately for use by other researchers. It is not completely known what all is included in the collection, however a detailed list will be generated listing what is included before moving to archives at CSUDH. In addition to the archive of AJM, handle special guest workshops, other music/article acquisitions and activities related to the Living Legend participants.
